We tried El Jefe de Pollo, a cool taco spot. The Cajun fries were spicy in a good way, and the chicken tenders were a decent size. But the honey buffalo chicken sandwich stole the show! It's like sweet and spicy all in one, and they even put coleslaw inside a brioche bun – a tasty combo you gotta try. They only do take-out, no dine-in, which is okay. Saw this place on TikTok and since it was so close to York University I had to try it! Came here yesterday and it was so good that I came back again today. Today my boyfriend and I ordered the chicken and waffle, brisket sliders and chicken wing with Mac and cheese. Everything was absolutely amazing, the food is top tier and what makes it better is the friendly service from all the staff and how awesome the owner is, especially when he cares so much about small businesses and promoting them! Definitely a hidden gem! If you were considering coming here I highly recommend doing so!!
The chicken is so crispy and yet so tender, absolutely loved it. Also met Chino( the owner, hope I caught his name right) who is a vibrant guy, when he got to know it was my first time visiting the place he also gave us free drinks let us pick whatever we want. Very hospitable. 10/10 would recommend.
We stumbled upon this joint and I must say it was worth it. Took awhile but the food is made to order. We ordered the Ball Up Box with a choice of The Plain Jane or Chef's Special, 2 wings, chicken strips, fries, and a choice of dipping sauce for 21. The Chef's Special chicken burger was hefty, juicy and filling. Both wings and the strip were crispy and well seasoned. It's a spot to definitely check out.
This spot is so good! We ordered the signature honey buffalo chicken sandwich and it was so big and juicy. The birria tacos tasted really authentic and had a great crunch. That buffalo Mac was super cheesy. Definitely recommend 10/10
Both the tacos and customer service were great! If I didn’t live far from Toronto, I would come here once a week. I highly suggest the oxtail taco. This taco had the best flavour and texture! Everything paired so well together, I wish I was Plankton, trying to steal their recipe (you feel me?)
Yummy chicken in my belly. Chef Chino uses fresh oil daily to fry his signature chicken. You have the choice of multiple types of chicken sandwiches, but my favourite has to be the Chicken N' Waffles. The breading and seasoning is on point and pairs well with the waffles and maple syrup. I loved their thick smashed burger patties and the tacos were great too! Great sides to choose from including wedges, fries and Mac and cheese. They also have a bunch of unique sodas that you can only get in the USA. Great prices and portions. Also all halal.
I run a lunch club in our office and today's lunch came from El Jefe. For today's lunch we offered the chef's special honey buffalo sandwich and the Jerk. We received many compliments on both sandwiches. We also have the Cajun fries. As far as service goes, everyone I dealt with had been extremely helpful and accommodating. We had 33 people participate in our lunch club which we call the vlg (voluntary lunch group) and not a one had anything negative to say.
